Local attractions
Oswestry is a fantastic place to stay for exploring Shropshire and North Wales, it's also a great stopping off point for anyone travelling to Snowdonia or North Wales from the South of England. Described by The Daily Telegraph as "The overlooked English county that has perfected the art of social distancing" Shropshire is light on population and heavy on beautiful scenery, independent shops and great places to eat and drink. It's a great alternative, cheaper and less crowded, to places like Devon, Cornwall and the Lake District. With the fantastic towns of Chester and Shrewsbury just over 30 minutes drive away, it's only an hour to Snowdonia and we're on the doorstep of many wonderful attractions like Pontcysyllte aqueduct and the British Ironworks Centre, and we're only 30 minutes away from National Trust Properties Chirk Castle, Erddig, Powys Castle and Attingham Park.
We're a great place for cyclists to stay and we can store your bikes safely and securely. Anyone walking Offa's Dyke Path will find a warm welcome and a place to dry boots and clothes, we can even sort your laundry and send you off the next day with a packed lunch.
Our facebook page has lots of suggestions for places to visit and things to do, including the ones you won't find in any official guide!
If you don't 'do' social media just ask us when you arrive!

Whether you're staying on business or a last minute weekend getaway, Oswestry is a fantastic place to visit and Nant Gloyw is the perfect place to stay.

The Story of Nant Gloyw*
*It means 'sparkling stream' in Welsh.
Nesscliffe Country Park.

We're Gayle and Michael, we've lived in Oswestry for over 20 years and we love the place! During 2018 we spent a lot of time staying in B&B's, dropping our children off at university, visiting relatives etc, and the journey home always seemed to involve a night away.
The more B&B's we stayed in, the more annoying similarities we found. Why so much plastic waste? Why those tiny single use shampoo bottles that you can never empty fully? Why such poor breakfast choices? Why no herbal tea in the hospitality tray? Why isn't the mattress comfier?
Later that year we took part in the Oswestry Round Challenge, a 33 mile walk to be completed in a day. Walking along the canal in the late afternoon was a struggle, so to keep our spirits up we started talking about how we would run a B&B and the changes we would make.
A few months later our children had left home and we opened as Nant Gloyw B&B.
We've welcomed guests from as far away as Moscow and Chicago, Israel and Vietnam, Hong Kong and Berlin, Paris and Melbourne. We hope you'll be one of our next guests.
